About this project
I'm visiting every inhabited island in Okinawa Prefecture and documenting each one with my own photographs and research. Okinawa Prefecture includes dozens of inhabited islands beyond the well-known ones near Naha and Ishigaki, and this project covers all of them, one visit at a time.
The photographs
Every photograph on this site is my own. I take the photos in person on each island; none of it is stock photography or sourced from other travelers.
Editorial policy
Practical information, such as access, prices, opening hours, and distances, is checked against named official or primary sources before it's published, and each fact carries the date it was last checked. Some of it also comes from a personal visit: the free Okinawa Main Island guide, for example, includes seven spots I've been to and photographed myself. Elsewhere on the site, treat facts as sourced research rather than an in-person visit until an island's own pages say otherwise. Okinawa's ferry schedules, business hours, and prices can change, so treat an older confirmation date as a signal to double-check before you travel.
I revisit island pages over time to keep this information current, but I can't guarantee that every detail is up to date the moment you read it.
